11 Mar Constitution Surgery Alliance video integration
Constitution Surgery Alliance (CSA), Avon, CT are now live at 6 surgery centers where the MD Link integration engine software from MDI Solutions is being used to securely transfer clinical video and images from their medical imaging devices.
The surgical centers at CSA were using outdated technology to manage their data integration requirements. Their goal was to provide real-time access to video and images for their surgical team. MDI Solutions’ interface analysts were tasked with providing end-to-end integration whereby the Video Towers and C-Arm machines in use at the surgery centers needed to be uploaded with the daily patient schedules and the resulting images and videos converted and transferred to different EHR’s including Epic.
MDI worked with the different Surgery Center resources to implement a multi-step solution. The first stage had MDI implement a DICOM Modality Work List server for the video equipment to query for its daily work list. MD Link was then set up to listen for patient demographic detail (from different Scheduling software via an HL7 interface) so the patient scheduling data could update the work list. The DICOM-based video and images captured on the medical equipment were then converted via MDI’s DICOM Image Server and embedded in a Results message for upload to EHR’s. The staff at the surgery centers now have secure and searchable access to surgical video and image files.
